"Two Soldiers Met Upon A Battlefield" @ The Crossroads E-zine

I've been thinking about war a lot lately. Not just the ones going on right now, but others throughout history. What fascinates me are the underlying psycho-social and biological principles at work on the macro scale of societies, and how, despite all of that, on an individual level very few people actually want to kill other people.

Anyway, the first line of this piece popped into my head, starting a current of words which I felt compelled to write down and mold into something that I hope is worth reading and re-reading. The first line is also the title:

"Two Soldiers Met Upon A Battlefield"

Thanks to my friend and Literary Brother-In-Arms, John Patrick Robbins, for wasting no time in getting this published to his literary e-zine: The Crossroads.
Any and all feedback is welcome.

Death Nail Magazine!

I’m incredibly proud and happy to announce that “Death Nail Magazine” from Hell’s Gate Publishing is now available on Amazon! Featuring the darkest of dark poetry and short fiction from authors John Patrick Robbins, Scott Simmons, Lauren Scharhag, Lenore Collins, Ashley Karlsson, and yours truly!

Two of my best short stories are included in this fine publication: “The Golden Silence,” and “Flavor of the Month.” Both are “Tales From The Crypt”-style yarns; morbid and mordant, and delightfully misanthropic. “Silence” is about Cecelia Ryder, an annoying travel blogger who befriends a mysterious nun on a flight to Portland, Oregon. “Flavor” is the story of Gustave Westenra, an egotistical author who’s become famous for writing a novel about teenaged vampires.

Do yourself a favor a grab some copies of “Death Nail” for yourself and/or your dark literature-loving friends @ https://www.amazon.com/Death-Nail-Magazine/dp/B0BRLY3376/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1675115418&refinements=p_27%3AJesse+Rucilez&s=books&sr=1-1&text=Jesse+Rucilez&asin=B0BRLY3376&revisionId=&format=4&depth=1

Thanks for reading!

Death's Avenger #4: The Quad

                                                      DEATH'S AVENGER

Superhero. Serial Killer. Pawn.

Here's a video of me reading Episode #4 from my horror superhero series: Death’s Avenger!

Blaine Myers, a mild-mannered man in Stark City, Oregon, is chosen to be an Avatar of Death itself! In this episode, Blaine’s terrible morning continues as he arrives late to work and gets reamed by his boss. Later, during lunch, Blaine discusses the local murders with his pals, Isaac, Franklin, and Bill, and the discussion turns philosophical. Hmmm…sounds like poor Blaine has only just begun to face his existential crisis!
